The Thurston Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Churchill Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Thurston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Churchill likes a good challenge.
Thurston can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Willamette 63-6 on the road. Given Thurston's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Willamette is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Noah Blair, who threw for 253 yards and five touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes. Blair hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Bonar, who picked up 125 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Churchill had to settle for a 26-24 loss against Crater on Friday.
Thurston's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40 points. As for Churchill, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Thurston against Churchill in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 44-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thurston since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
