Two dominant signal callers in Derek Garcia and Grayson Auzat are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ventura Cougars will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Oak Park Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Oak Park will be up against a hot Ventura squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Royal 44-9. Considering the Cougars have won four matchups by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Cunningham produced another solid effort picking up 200 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 111 receiving yards.

Ventura's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Nathan Radwich. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Park). They blew past Buena 48-7 on Friday. The Eagles have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Ventura better keep an eye on Nevada Ford. He was instrumental in Oak Park's win, picking up 104 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 51 yards on only six carries. Ford got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 68 yards. Rey Sadahiro made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Oak Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Derek Dermott and Sadahiro. Sadahiro got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ventura's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Oak Park, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Ventura has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 383.5 total yards per game. However, it's not like Oak Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 356.6 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Ventura was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Park in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 17-7. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
