Basketball Recap: Blake Peterson Key Part of a Team Effort in Badgers Win

Wayne hadn't done well against Piute recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wayne Badgers came out on top against the Piute Thunderbirds by a score of 45-38. For the Badgers, this counts as revenge for the 60-49 victory the Thunderbirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blake Peterson, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 16 points and three steals. The matchup was Peterson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Lee, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

The win got Wayne back to even at 2-2. As for Piute, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Wayne won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tintic at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Tintic will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Wayne surely won't give up without a fight. As for Piute, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Green River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Green River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season.
