Ben Vilhauer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Pitman's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 7-15 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Pitman got a massive performance out of Nolan Walker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Walker has become a key player for the Pride: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise. Pitman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Modesto only posted an OBP of .381.
Pitman's record is now 10-15. As for Modesto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-21-1.
