The Mackay Miners will be playing at home against the Watersprings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Mackay is ranked 33rd, while Watersprings is ranked 31st).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-12, which was the final score in Mackay's tilt against Rockland two weeks ago. Mackay was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-6.
Mackay's loss came about despite a quality game from Chance Brower, who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Watersprings beat North Gem 22-16 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Watersprings.
Watersprings' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Korban Nelson, who threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes.
With Mackay's loss and Watersprings' victory, both teams now sport identical 4-3 records.
Mackay was dealt a bruising 58-12 defeat at the hands of Watersprings in their previous meeting back in September of 2021. Thankfully for Mackay, Jrew Plocher (who rushed for 197 yards and five touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only three passes) won't be suiting up this time.
