West Scranton is a perfect 10-0 against Scranton Prep since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Invaders will take on the Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for West Scranton and seven for Scranton Prep dating back to last season.
Valley View hit West Scranton with a five-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Invaders fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Invaders have lost by just one run.
Mia Tallo made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Lauren Tumavitch was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Scranton Prep couldn't beat Scranton on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Cavaliers took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.
Emelia Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie DeRiancho, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Scranton Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for West Scranton, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Scranton Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Scranton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Scranton Prep, though, as they've been averaging 11.2 hits. Given West Scranton's sizable advantage in that area, the Cavaliers will need to find a way to close that gap.
West Scranton was able to grind out a solid victory over Scranton Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 10-5. Will the Invaders repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
