Given Mercer Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 45th in West Virginia, while Narrows is ranked 250th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mercer Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karis Trump, who scored 16 points along with six steals. Trump set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Another player making a difference was Ella Botts, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Mercer Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Narrows, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ballard Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Narrows, they will head out on the road to face off against Parry McCluer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
