The Cape Fear Colts struggled with assists on Friday (the Triton Hawks had 700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cape Fear took a hard 56-38 fall against Triton. Cape Fear lost against Triton in their previous head to head back in February of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 74-71 score last time.
Despite the loss, Cape Fear still got an impressive performance from Rico McDonald, who scored 10 points. Tim Tucker was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 3 steals.
It was another big night for Romello Pegues, who scored 24 points for Triton. The match was Pegues' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was B. J. Surles, who scored 5 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals.
Cape Fear now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Triton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.
Cape Fear will head out on the road to face off against Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Triton, they will play host again and welcome E.E. Smith, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully E.E. Smith focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
