Baseball Recap: Highland Tech's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Highland Tech dropped their record down to 10-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Gaston Wildcats by a score of 3-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 back in February.

Highland Tech saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Costner, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for North Gaston, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On North Gaston's side, Jackson Livingston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Livingston has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Highland Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Gaston, they will challenge Stuart W. Cramer at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Storm will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
