4A Region I District 8 recap September 10, 2013
Cleburne was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in 4A Region I District 8. The Yellowjackets beat Weatherford 54-35 earlier in the week.
Everman scaled the state rankings by moving to 178 from 309 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of beating Southwest 51-39.
Cleburne's dynamic duo of Brian Baca and Kameron Pickett proved tough for the Kangaroos to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Baca threw for 273 yards and 4 touchdowns and Pickett had 164 yards receiving. Reggie Robinson II helped Cleburne's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 59 yards.
Jeff Merket's team's dynamic duo of Baca and Pickett proved to be unstoppable against Weatherford, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Pickett was the best wideout in the league this week as the Yellowjackets bested Weldon Nelms' team.
Baca put up the best numbers in passing as Cleburne bested the Kangaroos.
KIERRE CROSSLEY was the most successful running back in 4A Region I District 8 this week. He ran for 256 yards on 26 carries as Everman defeated Weatherford. DARRIAN DAVIS also contributed to the rushing game with 94 yards on the ground.
CROSSLEY was a beast in the backfield as Dale Keeling's team defeated the Raiders.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Cleburne's Baca and Pickett have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-9 quarterback Baca has thrown for 604 yards this season, while Pickett has 15 catches for 243 yards. Crowley's Day'Lonzo Freeman leads the league in rushing yards with 381.
Waco fell to Copperas Cove 70-24 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler Taylor was a bright spot for the Lions, as he caught 7 passes for 123 yards in the defeat.
