The Lowndes Vikings were the 47-43 winner over the Columbia Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lowndes fell 57-44 to Columbia on Tuesday. Lowndes has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lowndes' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kam Jackson, who scored 22 points along with two steals, and Keshawn Arthur who scored seven points along with nine steals and six assists. Arthur is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Kaiden Brown was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Columbia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zavian Douglas led the charge by scoring 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Wilson, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Lowndes' loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Lowndes will be playing in front of their home fans against Valdosta at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Valdosta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lowndes in Georgia (Valdosta is ranked 54th, while Lowndes is ranked 279th). As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to square off against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
