Foley Kedzior made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Warren Woods-Tower: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-20 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arjay Zimmerman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Fitzgerald came up short against Merritt Academy on Monday, falling 10-3. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fitzgerald saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Bush, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Dexter Garda was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Fitzgerald's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Warren Woods-Tower, their record now sits at 6-22.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Warren Woods-Tower has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fitzgerald struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Warren Woods-Tower's way against Fitzgerald in their previous matchup back in April, as Warren Woods-Tower made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
