The Eastern Comets will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Maconaquah Braves at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Eastern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Eastern struggled with assists on Tuesday (Manchester had 1000% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Eastern suffered a tough 61-35 defeat at the hands of Manchester.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jenna Odle, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. She scored a full 45.7% of Eastern's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Degraaff, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah's four-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-40 victory over Northfield.
It was another big night for Miranda Stoll, who scored 24 points along with 6 rebounds. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Addie Maiben was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Eastern's victory bumped their season record to 3-3 while Manchester's defeat dropped theirs to 4-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Eastern have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Maconaquah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
