The Ada Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Upper Scioto Valley Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Ada made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Columbus Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Ada fell just short of Columbus Grove by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. Ada hasn't had much luck with Columbus Grove recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Ada saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thad Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Smith has hit this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Upper Scioto Valley). Everything went their way against Cory-Rawson on Saturday as they made off with a 22-9 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Wyatt Davis and Mason Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Davis got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI, while Thompson went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Upper Scioto Valley is undefeated when Thompson posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Beau Sanders was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Upper Scioto Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Ada's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Upper Scioto Valley, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ada has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Upper Scioto Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ada suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Upper Scioto Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
