The Blythewood Bengals will head out on the road to take on the Spring Valley Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Blythewood, who comes in off a win.
Blythewood entered their tilt with Rock Hill with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Blythewood secured a 53-47 W over Rock Hill on Friday. Given Blythewood's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Rock Hill is ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blythewood can attribute much of their success to Austin Coker, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Taurus Lewis Jr, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Kishan Chung was another key contributor, scoring three points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 73-57 fall against Nation Ford. Spring Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Blythewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Spring Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Blythewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Spring Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 53-50. Will Blythewood repeat their success, or does Spring Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
