Manitowoc Lutheran is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah on Tuesday. The Lancers came out on top against the Resorters by a score of 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Resorters: they've now won seven in a row.
Derek Laabs made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

Laabs wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will Franzen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Franzen a new career-high. Another was Josiah Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Manitowoc Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Sheboygan Area Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ozaukee. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Crusaders' highest-scoring game to date.
Roman Schultz was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. Schultz was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Manitowoc Lutheran's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sheboygan Area Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Sheboygan Area Lutheran's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Manitowoc Lutheran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. It's a different story for Sheboygan Area Lutheran, though, as they've only averaged .210. Will they be able to contain Manitowoc Lutheran's hitters?
