Softball Recap: Tolleson Wins Going Away Against Apollo

Tolleson won the last time they faced Apollo and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wolverines blew past the Hawks 14-2. Considering the Wolverines have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lilliana Reyes looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sammie Ortega, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Adamariz Padilla was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Tolleson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apollo only posted an OBP of .353.

The victory made it two in a row for Tolleson and bumps their season record up to 17-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Apollo, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11.
