The Fruita Monument Wildcats put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Palisade by a score of 47-40. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Fruita Monument has scored all season.
Fruita Monument's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Max Orchard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Orchard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jhett Wells, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Fred Moore and Layne Ruppelius certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Moore scored nine points, while Ruppelius scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Fruita Monument pushed their record up to 14-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Palisade, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Fruita Monument will be playing at home against Grand Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand Junction is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Palisade, they will head out on the road to take on Glenwood Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Glenwood Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
