With a playoff win on the line, Logan rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They never let the Elida Tigers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Aydin Kotara was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Logan is 10-1 when Kotara posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Mason Wallin was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Mitchell Wall also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
The victory (which was Logan's third in a row) raised their record to 11-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Elida, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Coming up, Logan will head out on the road to challenge Gateway Christian at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. The Warriors will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight. Elida does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
