Central Suburban - South recap Oct. 23, 2012
Maine South extended the longest winning streak in Central Suburban - South this week by beating Glenbrook South, 35-14. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Hawks.
Maine South took down the Titans 35-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
New Trier's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Hendricks threw for 123 and four touchdowns and Skyler Norris had 91 yards receiving. On the ground Jordan Garrett chipped in 162 yards. Spencer Cotten helped New Trier's passing attack out by catching three balls for 20 yards.
Tommy Galanopoulos provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Niles West lost to Evanston. He completed 16 passes for 127 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 91 yards. Galanopoulos' favorite target this week was Nick Johnson, who caught four passes for 55 yards.
Dillon Rudy made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Trevians topped Waukegan. The 6-foot-1 defensive back recorded two fumbles.
6-foot-0 quarterback Mike McGivern of the Wolves is the league leader in passing yards this season with 738. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, New Trier's Frank Nicholas has rushed for 611 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Devin Boehm. The New Trier star has 47 catches for 498 yards.
Dan Starkey's team and the Bulldogs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Dan Starkey's team eventually emerging with a 35-30 victory. Hendricks in the win.
