After flying high against Lowell Catholic on Monday, Dracut came back down to earth. The Middies took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lowell Red Raiders on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.
Dracut started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 17-25, 26-24, 25-8, 25-18.
Maggie Callahan paced Dracut's offense, picking up six kills. Callahan got some help from Kelsey Hudon and her 13 assists. Leila Amiepouopouo controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Dracut's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Lowell, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-7.
