 Whiteland fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against Greenwood  on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Woodmen by a score of  6-5.
  Drew Helton put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  tossed 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned  (and three unearned) runs off   eight  hits. Helton was even better at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing three bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Blake Riddle was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.  Jordan Palmer was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Plainfield entered their tilt with Danville with two consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with  a   7-4  victory over the Warriors  on Saturday.
  Max Mantooth tossed a big game,   not allowing a single  earned run over 5.2 innings pitched.
 At the plate,  Grady Broughton was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was  John Jaisle, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
 Whiteland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Plainfield, their win  ended  a  four-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 3-0.
