Christian Family Academy hasn't had much luck against Pinnacle Classical Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Fire will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Christian Family Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Lake Lure Classical Academy 12-2 back in April. The Fire not only won back in April, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024 (when they won 11-0).
Charles Murray and Christopher Sponsellar made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Murray pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sponsellar tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Murray went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Sponsellar went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that Sponsellar has scored this season.
In other batting news, Christian Family Academy got a massive performance out of Peyton Hammond, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were Hammond's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Yoder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Christian Family Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Pinnacle Classical Academy came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 6-3.
Pinnacle Classical Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Christian Family Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Christian Family Academy suffered a grim 25-0 defeat to Pinnacle Classical Academy when the teams last played back in March. Can the Fire avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
