The Southside Seahawks will head out on the road to challenge the Lejeune Devil Pups at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Southside is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Southside pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between them and Jones wasn't particularly close, with Southside falling 79-64.
Meanwhile, Lejeune scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 90-59 win over Jones on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lejeune had established a 25 point advantage.
It was another big night for Trevor Highsmith, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Cam'ron Myers was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Southside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Lejeune, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Southside, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-52 loss to Lejeune in their previous meeting last Friday. Can Southside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
