The Dell City Cougars lost against the Van Horn Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Dell City was the victim of a tough 38-14 loss at the hands of Van Horn. Dell City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Van Horn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Georgi Sparks led the charge by scoring ten points along with six rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Mendoza, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Dell City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Van Horn, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dell City will square off against Big Bend at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Van Horn, they will head out on the road to face off against Balmorhea at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Balmorhea will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
