The Austintown-Fitch Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Harding Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Austintown-Fitch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Austintown-Fitch suffered their closest defeat since December 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of GlenOak by a score of 53-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Austintown-Fitch in their matchups with GlenOak: they've now lost three in a row.
Marcel Finkley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deshawn Vaughn, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Austintown-Fitch struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as GlenOak pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Harding came up short against Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday and fell 58-48. Harding has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Austintown-Fitch's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7. As for Harding, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Austintown-Fitch came up short against Harding when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 57-45. Can Austintown-Fitch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
