The Moorefield Yellow Jackets were the 45-32 winner over the Pocahontas County Warriors when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Moorefield received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 58-42 to Pocahontas County.
Leading Pocahontas County to victory were Shayla Bennett and Olivia Vandevender. Bennett scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Vandevender scored 11 points along with four steals and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bennett has scored all season. Allyson Taylor was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Moorefield's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Pocahontas County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Moorefield will head out on the road to square off against East Hardy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pocahontas County, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Pendleton County at 12:00 p.m.
