The Nettleton Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the North Panola Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Thursday, Nettleton came up short against East Webster and fell 28-19. Nettleton gained 143 more yards on the day, but it was East Webster that made the best of use of them.
The losing side was boosted by Braylen Williams, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 214 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, North Panola can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 69-34 victory over Holly Springs. The win made it back-to-back wins for North Panola.
This is the second loss in a row for Nettleton and nudges their season record down to 6-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Choctaw County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 80% over those games). As for North Panola, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Nettleton might still be hurting after the 41-21 defeat they got from North Panola in their previous meeting back in November of 2020. Can Nettleton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
