If the Marlington Dukes were feeling good off their 54-23 takedown of the Minerva Lions last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The game between Marlington and Howland wasn't particularly close, with Marlington falling 55-39. While losing is never fun, Marlington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Howland is ranked 71st).
Alyssa Massucci was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points for Howland. Massucci hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Barrish, who scored eight points.
Marlington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Howland, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marlington will square off against Salem at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Howland on the road again on Wednesday and play against Harding at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
