The Valley Vikings will be playing at home against the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Valley had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. The contest between Valley and Albuquerque wasn't particularly close, with Valley falling 52-33. Valley has struggled against Albuquerque recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Valley got a solid performance out of Giana Roybal, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Pojoaque Valley beat Capital 41-35 on Friday. The victory was just what Pojoaque Valley needed coming off of a 71-15 loss in their prior contest.
Pojoaque Valley had a senior duo take command as Marisela Bowie scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds and 5 steals and Kaylee Martinez scored 15 points.
Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Pojoaque Valley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
