The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars will be home for the holidays to greet the Mansfield Timberview Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Midlothian Heritage made easy work of Mansfield Summit and carried off a 51-26 victory. Given Midlothian Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Mansfield Summit is ranked 606th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midlothian Heritage's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Sweeney, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Ivy Preusser, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Mansfield Timberview had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points), and they went ahead and made it 14 on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 83-38 win over Centennial. Considering Mansfield Timberview has won 11 matches by more than 20 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The win makes it two in a row for Midlothian Heritage and bumps their season record up to 12-6. As for Mansfield Timberview, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Midlothian Heritage lost to Mansfield Timberview at home by a decisive 71-56 margin in their previous matchup back in January. Can Midlothian Heritage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
