Olentangy is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Springfield is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Olentangy Braves will take on the Springfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olentangy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Springfield likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Olentangy walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 38-21 win over Miamisburg on Friday. Given Olentangy's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Miamisburg is ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Olentangy had a senior duo take command as Ethan Grunkemeyer threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns and Riley Clarkson rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Clarkson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Gavin Grover got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Springfield earned a 17-10 victory over Centerville on Friday.
Olentangy's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Springfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season.
