The Ferguson Falcons will face off against the Southwest Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ferguson is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Ferguson came up short against Coral Reef and fell 3-1. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Barracudas 25-12 in the first set.
Ferguson started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-5, 25-20, 25-23.
Despite the defeat, Ferguson had strong showings from Katie Aguirre, who had 33 digs and three assists, and Samantha Olivia, who had 13 assists and seven digs. Denisse Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.
Southwest not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 22nd (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Southridge. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-12.
Ferguson better focus on containing Ariana Blanco and Jaslyn Figueroa as the pair were huge in Southwest's win. Blanco had seven aces and three digs, while Figueroa had five digs and four aces. Those five digs gave Figueroa a new career-high.
Southwest's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Ferguson, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Ferguson took their victory against Southwest in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
