They took a serious blow against The Gregory School, falling 73-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Augustine Catholic has scored all season.
St. Augustine Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Peter Dogbegah, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Lance Marchessault was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The Gregory School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Razin Smith, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Dawson, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
St. Augustine Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for The Gregory School, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
St. Augustine Catholic will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Chandler Prep at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Chandler Prep is ranked 210th, while St. Augustine Catholic is ranked 204th). The Gregory School on the road again on Tuesday and play against Ray at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Joseph Morales and Smith.
