The Naugatuck Greyhounds put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Crosby 49-18 at home. Fans of Naugatuck have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Jett Hall was his usual excellent self, rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while also throwing for 98 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Hall was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylin Martinez, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Crosby still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Febus, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 139 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Steve Dunbar was another key contributor, rushing for 132 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
Naugatuck's victory was their sixth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Crosby, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Naugatuck will face off against Seymour at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crosby, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Waterbury Career Academy at 10:00 a.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Waterbury Career Academy is ranked 102nd, while Crosby is ranked 122nd).
