The Brentsville District Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Meridian Mustangs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Mustangs 61-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Brentsville District's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooke lynn Miller, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds, and Payton Brown who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season.
It was another big night for Maureen Tremblay, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds for Meridian. Tremblay is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Stufft, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Brentsville District and nudges their season record down to 12-6. As for Meridian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brentsville District will square off against James Wood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully James Wood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. As for Meridian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty at 7:15 p.m. on January 31st. Meridian is coming into the contest with six straight victories on the road, so Liberty is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
