The Holy Cross Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their third straight loss. They fell 57-45 to Nazareth. While losing is never fun, Holy Cross can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Nazareth is ranked 45th).
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Taitt-Christina, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Moreno, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Holy Cross has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Nazareth, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will challenge Mt. St. Michael Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nazareth, they will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Molloy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
