The Laurel Highlands Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 80-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKeesport. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aiden Black, who scored 18 points. Black scored a full 26.9% of Laurel Highlands' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Antwan Black was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Laurel Highlands has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for McKeesport, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurel Highlands will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sewickley Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. McKeesport will finish 2023 at home by hosting West Mifflin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Mifflin has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 265 points over their last four matches.
