The Hazleton Area Cougars were the 65-62 winner over the Woodson Cavaliers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Hazleton Area's rough 69-43 defeat to Woodson on Wednesday might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hazleton Area has scored all season.
Woodson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Donovan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of David Gantumur, who scored 15 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Hazleton Area and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Woodson, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing William Allen the next time they take the court. Hazleton Area will host William Allen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Woodson will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
