5A District 11 recap Oct. 16, 2012
East Lee County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 5A District 11. The Jaguars beat the Jaguars 39-8 earlier in the week.
Estero made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,154 from 4,790.
Mariner's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Eric Russaw chipped in 92 yards. Romario Blissett helped Mariner's passing attack out by catching two balls for 37 yards.
Jaylen Mitchell was the best wideout in the league this week as the Tritons fell to Port Charlotte. Mitchell racked up five receptions for 52 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Christian Phillips and Eric McFadden the Wildcats have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Phillips leads the league in passing with 1039 yards, while McFadden has rushed for 826 yards this season. Cape Coral's Rashaan Gaymon leads the league in receiving yards with 332 on 24 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Seahawks take on Mariner. Cape Coral is in third place, while Chris Siner's team is in fourth place.
