The Campo Verde Coyotes and the Horizon Huskies will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Campo Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Campo Verde turned things around against Higley on Wednesday. They blew past the Knights 11-3. The Coyotes not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.

Brooklyn Giefski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Anna Zehring and Rylan Renowden did most of the damage at the plate: Zehring went 3-for-5 with six RBI, one triple, and one run, while Renowden scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases Renowden has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Hernandez, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Campo Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Horizon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They skirted past the Colts 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since April 15, 2024.
Kaia Stephens was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Campo Verde pushed their record up to 4-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Horizon, their record now sits at 5-2.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Campo Verde hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Horizon struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Campo Verde came up short against Horizon in their previous matchup on Monday, falling 11-8. Can Campo Verde avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
