Lansingburgh and the Crusaders are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Lansingburgh Knights will be playing at home against the Catholic Central Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lansingburgh will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Crusaders are ranked sixth).
Last Tuesday, Lansingburgh was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to the Cadets. It was the first time this season that Lansingburgh let down their fans at home.
Meanwhile, Catholic Central waltzed into their game on Friday with 14 straight wins but they left with 15. They came out on top against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk by a score of 62-52. That's two games straight that Catholic Central has won by exactly ten points.
Catholic Central relied on the efforts of Xavjon Arroyo, who scored 20 points along with four steals, and Sei'Mir Roberson, who scored 26 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arroyo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Qwameik Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Lansingburgh's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5. As for Catholic Central, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
Lansingburgh lost to the Crusaders at home by a decisive 70-53 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Catholic Central's Darien Moore, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds.
