Boone had a senior duo take command as Cheo James scored 27 points along with 5 rebounds and Lian Hernandez scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Hernandez has scored at least 25% of Boone's points. Another player making a difference was Erik Boyer, who scored 5 points along with 7 assists.
Despite the loss, Timber Creek had strong showings from Joshua Perry, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds, and Wyatt Koerber, who scored 11 points. Koerber scored a full 31.4% of Timber Creek's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Boone's victory bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Timber Creek, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Boone will head out on the road to face off against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Boone in Florida (Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is ranked 23rd, while Boone is ranked 451st). As for Timber Creek, they will be playing at home against Winter Park at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
