Madison is 2-7 against Johnson since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Madison Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Johnson Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Madison's three-game losing streak came to an end two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 38-7 victory over Lee at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Madison just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, Johnson put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Lee, posting a 57-3 win on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-3.
Johnson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lorenn "bubba" Johnson out in front who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Johnson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Hawkins, who threw for 169 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Madison's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Johnson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.
Madison was taken down by Johnson 41-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Madison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
