Basketball Recap: Richfield Piles Up the Points Against Kennedy

While Richfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by the Kennedy Eagles to the tune of 67-28 on Thursday. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Richfield had a senior duo take command as Aniiya Johnson shot 5-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds and Desirai Chappell went 8 for 13 on her way to 18 points along with three steals and three blocks. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Iona Macnabb was another key player, putting up eight points.

Richfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.3 points. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Richfield has already played their next game, a 55-28 win against Minneapolis Southwest on the 10th. As for Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 50-43 victory against Fridley on the 14th.
