Emma Hazel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Alyvia Pietsch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Nelson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic earned a 10-7 victory over Sandy on Wednesday.
Central Catholic let Portland Razo and Olivia Pompetti run wild. Razo went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs, while Pompetti got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Razo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sidney Ginter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Nelson's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Central Catholic, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Nelson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
