The Southern Academy Cougars fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Coosa Valley Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-27. Southern Academy pushed the score to 36-13 by the end of the third, a deficit Coosa Valley Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
McGuire Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 175 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Skelton, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Southern Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Coosa Valley Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Academy will take on South Choctaw Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Choctaw Academy and Southern Academy are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they will be playing at home against Sparta Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sparta Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
