The Jackson Prep Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Hartfield Academy Hawks at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Jackson Prep faced Jackson Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Jackson Prep took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jackson Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Hartfield Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 67-54 to Jackson Academy. While losing is never fun, Hartfield Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Jackson Academy is ranked ninth).
Jackson Prep are also on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-5-1. As for Hartfield Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
Jackson Prep beat Hartfield Academy 45-38 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Jackson Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hartfield Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
