The Messalonskee Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Brewer Witches at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Messalonskee will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Brunswick on Monday. The Eagles came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Lauryn Swails made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Camryn Gosselin was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season. Riley St. Peter was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brewer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Edward Little a 4-0 shutout on Friday.
The result came thanks to Sara Young's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Audrey Loupin, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Messalonskee's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Brewer, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Messalonskee couldn't quite get it done against Brewer in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
