After flying high against the Douglass Mighty Ducks last Friday, The Patterson Clippers came back down to earth. Patterson took a 32-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Poly on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Patterson in their matchups with Poly: they've now lost three in a row.
Jaylen Jackson threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns on only 17 passes. Karson Carmickle was his top target, picking up 144 receiving yards. On the ground, Zion Woods rushed for 65 yards.
Patterson's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Poly, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Patterson will head out on the road to face off against Mergenthaler Vo-Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Mergenthaler Vo-Tech presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Patterson in Maryland (Mergenthaler Vo-Tech is ranked 48th, while Patterson is ranked 201st).
